The birth of Rory

La naissance de Rory

It all happened so fast.

There was that suspended, almost unreal moment when time seems to contract without warning. The bags weren't even ready. Nothing was really in its place, and yet... everything was already in motion.

Mila arrived at the hospital in a hurry, her heart beating too fast, her breath short. She tried to stay calm, to breathe softly, to ground herself in the moment. All around her, the corridors flashed by, the white lights too bright, too clear. Then the waiting.

A long, silent wait.

In the hospital room, the outside world gradually faded away. All that remained was the discreet ticking of time passing, thoughts racing, and that strange sensation of being on the edge of something immense.

The hours stretched on, slow and heavy, mixed with worry and hope. Mila waited. She listened to her own breath, tried to calm her hands, placed on her belly, as if to reassure this little being who was about to arrive.

.

Then, almost without warning, everything calmed down.

Silence.

And suddenly...

A little scream.

A fragile sound, but so powerful that it filled the whole room.

A soft warmth against his chest.

This is Rory 🤍

So small.

So peaceful.

Already surrounded by love.

Snuggled up against her mom, Rory seemed perfectly at home, as if she'd always been there. Her delicate features, her almost unreal calm, her obvious presence... At that very moment, nothing else mattered.

The rest of the world could wait.

There was no longer any fatigue, fear or restlessness. Only that immediate, deep, almost instinctive bond between mother and baby. Mila let out the tears she'd been holding back for hours. Sweet tears, full of relief and love.

Rory was there.

Nala's visit

The door opened slowly.

Nala entered quietly, almost tiptoeing, as if afraid of upsetting the fragile balance of this moment.

Her gaze fell on Mila, still weighed down by fatigue, then on the transparent cradle lying nearby.

And suddenly, time folded in on itself.

That tiny body, those peaceful features, that barely visible breathing...

Everything came back to him.

The birth of twins.

The same hospital smells, the same white light, the same silence punctuated by heartbeats.

The unique sensation of having the whole world in your hands.

Nala approached, slowly.

She didn't speak right away.

There were too many emotions for words.

Then, in an almost imperceptible breath:

«She's perfect.»

Rory slept, wrapped in her blanket, indifferent to everything but the heat around her.

Mila smiled.

A tired but bright smile.

In that hospital room, there were just two women, a shared memory... and a new life.
