The Birth of Rory

The Birth of Rory

Everything happened so fast.

There was that suspended moment, almost unreal, when time seems to contract without warning. The bags weren't even packed. Nothing was really in its place, and yet… everything was already starting to move.

Mila came rushing into the hospital, her heart beating too fast, her breath short. She tried to stay calm, to breathe slowly, to stay grounded in the moment. Around her, the corridors flew by, the white lights felt too bright, too sharp. Then the wait.

A long, silent wait.

In the hospital room, the outside world gradually faded away. All that remained was the quiet ticking of passing time, thoughts jostling for space, and that strange feeling of being on the edge of something immense.

The hours stretched on, slow and heavy, mingled with worry and hope. Mila waited. She listened to her own breathing, tried to steady her hands, resting them on her belly, as if already reassuring that tiny being about to arrive.

.

Then, almost without warning, everything calmed down.

A silence.

And suddenly…

A tiny cry.

A fragile sound, yet so powerful it filled the entire room.

A soft warmth against her chest.

Here is Rory?

So small.

So peaceful.

Already surrounded by love.

Cuddled against her mom, Rory seemed perfectly at home, as if she had always been there. Her delicate features, her almost unreal calm, her obvious presence… At that precise moment, nothing else mattered.

The rest of the world could wait.

There was no more fatigue, no fear, no restlessness. Only that immediate, deep, almost instinctive bond that unites a mother and her baby. Mila let the tears she had been holding back for hours flow. Soft tears, filled with relief and love.

Rory was here.

Nala's Visit

The door opened softly.

Nala slipped in quietly, almost on tiptoe, as if afraid to disturb the fragile balance of this moment.

His gaze fell on Mila, still heavy with exhaustion, then on the transparent cradle nearby.

And suddenly, time folded in on itself.

This tiny body, these peaceful features, this barely visible breath…

It all came back to him.

The birth of the twins.

The same hospital smells, the same white light, the same silence broken only by heartbeats.

That unique feeling of holding the entire world right there, in his hands.

Nala approached, slowly.

She didn't speak right away.

There were too many emotions for words.

Then, in a nearly imperceptible breath:

“She's perfect.”

Rory slept, wrapped in her blanket, indifferent to everything but the warmth surrounding her.

Mila smiled.

A tired smile, but radiant.

In that hospital room, there were only two women, a shared memory… and a new life.
